IRISH OPEN 2006

The Scotland IAKSA team went over to compete in the Irish Open in Dublin. This tournament, the largest of its type in Europe, if not the world, boasts a cast of over 20 different countries, and World and European Champions from all walks of martial arts.

The whole squad competed well, with Leon Phillips, showing superior movement and timing over his opponents to win his section, Robert McCallum's fitness, determination and constant attacking showed what he is easily capable of, as he picked up his first Irish Open Title, and by the way he fought, probably not his last. The Scottish Ladies dominated the black belt light contact category with Rachel Hopkirk bringing home 3rd, Lorraine Campbell, showing she has recovered fully to bring back 2nd, and Kate Kearney wining the Irish Open for an amazing 5th time.
