2009 WKA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, HUELVA, SPAIN.
Three Scottish IAKSA fighters joined the WKA Scottish squad in Huelva, Spain
for the WKA World Championships from 27th October 2009 - 3rd November 2009. This
tournament hosts over 2000 fighters from across the world.
The two fighters, Karen McGregor and Robert McCallum did their country, their style and themselves proud and all three fighters made the
finals in the respective weight categories and disciplines. Robert
McCallum faced off against an Irish fighter in the full contact section and
brought back the World Silver medal, (the first Scottish IAKSA fighter to win a
world full contact medal). Karen McGregor fought a German in her final where,
after a convincing victory she became the WKA 2009 Ladies +65kg Light Contact
World Champion. Congratulation to both of the fighters, who trained hard and
fought well to collect their new titles and world medals. Unfortunately neither
of the talented athletes and fighters could hold a camera as well as they
could fight, but here is the best of the pictures (just imagine what the rest
were like!!!)
